The small timber roller is the best for balance board beginners. It's only 100mm in diameter, so unlike the foam you start a lot closer to the ground, making it safer to stop and start. Another advantage with the wood rollers is they have different difficulty levels, the softer the surface the slower they perform. Both wood roller are meant to be used indoor only or on a soft and smooth surface. Rough concrete or any gravel will eventually ruin your roller like any other timber product.
